An access log is a detailed list of all the files that were accessed by the visitors of a certain site. Any file that was requested in some way will be listed, so if you have only one webpage with three embedded pictures, one video and one embedded text file, as an illustration, the access log will contain a total of six entries - one for each of the six files which were accessed when the site visitor opened the webpage. A log normally contains the file name and path, the date, as well as the visitor’s OS, Internet browser and IP address. In some cases you could also find the referrer websites that sent the visitors to your site. The info that an access log file contains is in human-readable plain text format. It can also be processed by special software on a desktop machine and used to write reports on the overall performance of an Internet site, in addition to the web statistics your web hosting server may have created.
Access Log Manager in Shared Web Hosting
When you order a shared web hosting from us, you shall be able to choose if access logs should be produced and for which domains or subdomains inside your account this should be done. You may enable this function from the Access/Error Logs section of the Hepsia Control Panel, incorporated with all shared accounts. Every single domain you host or subdomain you create shall be listed there and you'll see an On/Off option next to each and every one of them, so you can conveniently trigger or deactivate the generation of access logs independently for every single website that you have. You'll be able to save a log to your computer by clicking on the Download link that you shall see in the exact same section of the CP. The link will be available even if you deactivate the log generation, so you shall still have access to the data gathered by our system.
Access Log Manager in Semi-dedicated Servers
If you host your sites in a semi-dedicated server account with our company, you will have the option to enable or deactivate the generation of access logs with no more than a few clicks within your Hepsia hosting CP. You shall find this function within the Access/Error Logs section, which you can access after you sign in. All it takes for our system to start creating logs is one click on the On button which you will see there. The function can be triggered separately for any Internet site no matter if it uses a domain or a subdomain and you will find the full list of all the hosts in that section. Any access log can be downloaded as a text file with just a click and you can then look at it manually or use some software on your laptop or computer. The log generation can be disabled by simply switching the On option to Off within the Logs section of your CP.
